Scrub

Privacy policy

The short version: Scrub collects nothing. Your photos are inspected and cleaned entirely on your device, the app makes no network requests, and we have no servers that could hold your data. For a privacy tool, anything less would be absurd.

01What this covers

This policy covers the Scrub mobile app and this website, getscrub.app (“we”, “us”). Questions? Email support@getscrub.app.

02What the app collects: nothing

Scrub is a fully offline app. It does not require an account, does not connect to the internet, and contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs of any kind. We do not collect, receive, store, sell, or share any personal information — because the app never sends any. Everything Scrub does, it does on your device.

03Your photos and their metadata

When you pick a photo, Scrub reads it — including any embedded metadata such as GPS coordinates, timestamps, device details, and names — solely to show that data to you and to remove or edit it at your direction. This processing happens in the app, on your phone. Photos, and the metadata inside them, are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with us or anyone else.

Cleaned copies are saved to your photo library as new files; your originals are never modified or deleted. Temporary working copies inside the app's private storage are discarded when no longer needed.

04Photo library permissions

Scrub asks for permission to open the photos you choose and to save cleaned copies back to your library. On Android, Scrub also requests media-location access — that permission is what allows the app to see (and therefore remove) the GPS data inside your photos. These permissions are used for exactly those purposes and nothing else.

05Purchases

Scrub is a paid app sold through the Apple App Store (and, in the future, Google Play). Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. We never see your name, payment details, or billing address.

06This website

getscrub.app is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics scripts. Our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address and requested page) to operate and secure the service, as described in the provider's own privacy documentation.

07Email support

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply and keep it only as long as needed to help you. We never add you to mailing lists or share your address. Please don't email us photos you want cleaned — we don't want them, and the app does the job better.

08Children

Scrub is suitable for all ages. Because the app collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children.

09Your rights

Privacy laws such as GDPR and CCPA give you rights over personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete — your photos and their metadata are already fully in your hands, on your device. Support emails you have sent us will be deleted on request.

10Changes to this policy

If we ever change how Scrub works in a way that affects privacy, we will update this policy first and note the change prominently here and in the app's release notes. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version.
